Nikola Tesla might be the most underrated scientist/engineer of the 20th century. Although he’s started to get a little love lately (although more for his eccentricities than for his contributions) the history books still ignore him. Certainly the equal of Edison (and many think his better), he is still dismissed for his quirky behavior and his dabbling in the metaphysic. He has been called the original Geek and probably did personify the fine line between insanity and genius, but his real contributions deserve more recognition (it is rumored that the U.S. Government is still keeping some of his inventions under wraps). Physicists today still don’t know what Dark Energy is, but I bet Tesla would have some insight.
